Mohamed Somji


Dubai

Mohamed Somji, a self-taught artist, focuses on social documentary in his photography. Born in Tanzania, he moved to Dubai in 1976 with his family. He has participated in numerous exhibitions including, A Day in the Life of a Dubai Laborer, Dubai, 2008; Shooting Mirages Group Exhibition, Dubai, 2007; and Moving Walls at The Third Line Gallery, 2006. His works have been included in the several publications including Suedeutsche Newspaper, Munich, Germany; Dubai Labor Camps, 2008; NZZ Folio, Dubai Reportage, 2008; En.V Magazine, Kuwait, City of Gold, 2008; Soura Photography Magazine, Dubai, Iran - Travel Feature, 2007; Buzz Magazine, Behind the Scenes at Dubai International Film Festival, 2006.
